The Black Dress

by Deborah Moggach

I have never read Deborah Moggach before and would describe this one as an excellently written beach read. Fun, funny, likeable characters and a plot that comes out of nowhere, taking the book from a gently humorous observation of a woman’s craziness after her husband leaves, to a twisty tale worthy of any murder mystery. And the best bit is that the protagonist is sixty-nine and she has sex, in a world of age-appropriate anxiety, absurdity and chaos.
