TAKEDOWN
by Ali Bryan
Bryan's writing is clear, sharp, honest and always a delight to read. It took me a while to get into this, her latest book, because the protagonist is a female teenage wrestler and I wasn't immediately interested in the details of her gymnastic moves, but once the plot expanded into her quest to cure her father's ALS and the effect the disease has on daily the lives of her family, her relationship struggles, and then included a rescue dog, I was hooked. An emotional, intriguing read that is simple but not easy.
